Biography
Ariella Sanchez is a Puerto Rican/Salvadoran artist from Bridgeport, CT, whose work is rooted in emotion, resilience, and storytelling. Drawing inspiration from both her cultural background and personal experiences, she uses art as a way to connect, heal, and empower.
Her journey into the art world was deeply personal — shaped by challenges such as epilepsy and surviving domestic violence. These life experiences not only built her strength but also helped her discover a deeper purpose. Creating art that speaks truth and inspires others.
Coming from a family of artists, she never imagined herself pursuing art professionally. That changed when she realized the endless possibilities that a creative life could offer. Ariella dove into studying art across all mediums, from fashion to sculpture and everything in between. The more she learned, the more she fell in love with the process and the purpose behind it.
In 2023, she made the life-changing decision to leave her job of seven years, sell her home, and invest in her future as a full-time artist. With the money she earned, she purchased photography equipment and opened her first art studio. Since then, she has been building her portfolio and continuing her education in fine arts, with the goal of eventually earning her master’s degree.
Artist Statement
I’m Ariella Sanchez, a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in photography and painting. My art is deeply personal and born from my experiences — both the struggles and the triumphs. I use my work to explore themes like human connection, homelessness, love, and the complexities of identity, particularly through the lens of my own journey.
Being a Puerto Rican and Salvadoran woman, surviving domestic violence, and living with epilepsy has shaped me as both a person and an artist. These experiences drive my passion for creating work that speaks to the heart of what it means to be seen and heard, to connect and grow, and to embrace who you are.
Through my photography and painting, I aim to create art that not only reflects my own truth but invites others to explore their own stories. My goal is to inspire understanding, compassion, and conversation around the issues that matter most. Showing the beauty, strength, and resilience that we all carry, even through hardship.
